They were the only children of Christina (Krestina) Carlotta Johanna nee Johanson and Thomas Herbert Carlsyle Towle shown here with his first wife Christina Alma nee Smith widow of Wren to whom she bore a son Gordon Wren (dec.)

Christina and Jack had two children of their own: Evelyn, married name Gates, and Jack known as "Jackie" ( deceased as a boy)

Jack Edward Towle was named in honour of his grandfather John Herbert Towle whose nick-name was "Flash Jack" because of the 'flashy' clothing he wore as he moved in social circles around "The Rocks" area of Sydney, a locality near the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which has been the subject of an extensive archaeological dig and which uncovered homes used by the Towle family in the late 1800's to mid 1900.
